You will be terrible for about three weeks.

Then something clicks and you stop counting in your head. Kinetic runs contemporary, hip-hop, Bharatanatyam and adult beginner ballet in Bandra, and about 60% of the people in any room started as adults with no background at all.

Six things you can walk into

Contemporary

Floor work, release technique, and choreography you will actually perform at the December showing. Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Hip-hop

Grooves first, choreography second. The loudest room in the building and the one that fills fastest on a Friday.

Bharatanatyam

Traditional adavus taught properly, by a Kalakshetra-trained teacher, with no pressure towards an arangetram unless you want one.

Adult beginner ballet

Barre, centre, and no mirrors for the first month. Designed for people who last did this at nine, or never.

Heels

Technique, weight transfer and actual ankle strength before anything else. Bring flats for the first two classes.

Open floor

Sunday mornings, no teacher, ₹200 for two hours of studio and a speaker. Half the room is rehearsing, half is messing about.

If you have never danced

  1. Come to a Tuesday 19:30 beginner class — it is designed for exactly this
  2. Wear anything you can move in. Nobody owns the right clothes at the start
  3. Stand in the second row, not the back. The back is where you hide and stop learning
  4. Give it four weeks before deciding. Three is when most people quit and four is when it lands

There is no term structure and no joining date. People start every week of the year, which is why the beginner class never feels like you walked in late.

A dancer holding a shape at the end of a phrase

“I signed up at thirty-four having never taken a class. I was the worst person in that room for two months and nobody once made me feel it. Last December I was on the stage.”

Practical things

How do I pay?+

₹600 a drop-in, ₹4,800 for ten classes valid six months, or ₹5,500 a month unlimited. No joining fee, no contract, and unused class packs do not silently expire — we email you before they do.

Do I need to book?+

Yes, rooms cap at fourteen. Booking opens seven days ahead and the Friday hip-hop class is usually full within an hour of opening.

What if I have an injury?+

Tell the teacher before class, not during. Every teacher here can give you a modification, and two of them have a movement-science background.

Is there a performance?+

One showing in December, entirely optional, at the Prithvi black box. About half the studio takes part and nobody is asked twice if they say no.

Can under-18s join?+

16 and 17 with a parent's consent form. Below that we run a separate Saturday programme with its own teachers and safeguarding policy.
