Open and click tracking

Brixus365 automatically tracks opens and clicks for every email you send — transactional and campaign. No setup required. Open the Audit Trail on any individual message to see the full engagement timeline, including every URL the recipient clicked.

How tracking works

Tracking is enabled automatically on every send. There is no setting to configure and no code to add.

Open tracking. When Brixus365 delivers an email, a tracking signal is added to the message. When the recipient’s email client loads the email, the open event fires and is recorded — typically within seconds.

Click tracking. Links in your email are processed so that when a recipient clicks one, the click is recorded before they are redirected to the original destination URL. The recipient’s experience is unchanged — they arrive at your URL as expected.

Both mechanisms are always active for campaign sends and transactional sends. Test emails (sent from the campaign wizard’s Send Test Email step) do not record open or click events.

What is recorded

EventData recorded
OpenTimestamp of first open. Total open count (subsequent opens increment the counter).
ClickTimestamp of first click. Total click count. For each individual click: the original destination URL, approximate IP address, and browser/device information.

Message statuses updated by tracking:

StatusMeaning
SentEmail handed off for delivery.
DeliveredReceiving mailbox accepted the email.
OpenedAt least one open event recorded.
ClickedAt least one click event recorded.
BouncedPermanent delivery failure.
ComplainedRecipient reported the email as spam.

Each status is recorded as it happens. The Audit Trail drawer shows the full timeline with timestamps.

Where to see engagement data

Per-message (transactional):

Go to Connect → Transactional → Send History. The table shows open and click counts in the Metrics column and timestamps in the Engagement column. Click any row to open the Audit Trail drawer, which shows the complete event timeline and the specific URLs clicked.

Per-message (campaign):

Open any sent campaign in Spark → Campaigns, then click Analytics. The analytics tab includes per-recipient delivery and engagement status.

Aggregate (transactional):

Connect → Analytics shows aggregate open rate, click rate, bounce rate, and complaint rate across all transactional sends in the selected time window.

Aggregate (campaigns):

Spark → Reports and each campaign’s Analytics tab show open rate, click rate, and engagement funnel across campaign sends.

Tracking accuracy

Apple Mail Privacy Protection (MPP). Since 2021, Apple Mail pre-loads email content when the email is received, regardless of whether the recipient reads it. This causes Brixus365 to record an open event for every email delivered to an Apple Mail user — even if they never opened the email. The effect: open rates for Apple Mail users are inflated. Click rates are unaffected (MPP does not pre-click links).

Bot and security scanner activity. Some corporate email security tools scan links in emails immediately on receipt to check for malicious URLs. These scans can register as click events. The IP address and user-agent data in the click record can help identify these — security scanner clicks tend to come from data-centre IP ranges and generic user-agent strings.

Practical guidance. Use click rate as your primary engagement signal — it is less susceptible to false positives than open rate. Open rate is still useful for trend analysis, but treat absolute open-rate numbers with caution, especially on lists with a large Apple Mail user base.

Plain-text emails. Open tracking requires HTML email content. Plain-text emails cannot be tracked for opens. Click tracking is also not applied to plain-text sends.
